Student Visa for Spain
If your course lasts over 90 days and you are from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland, check the long-stay study authorisation.
After arrival
For stays over six months, apply to the TIE within one month of entering Spain. EU citizens follow residence registration rules instead.

Can I study in Spain in English?
Yes. Spain has English-taught bachelor's and master's programmes, especially at private universities and in selected public programmes. Check the programme language and admission route with the university.
Do I need the PCE?
It depends on your education system and your university. EU, EHEA, International Baccalaureate and European School profiles may use accreditation. Other systems generally use homologation and PCE. UNEDasiss and the university make the final decision.
Is my school diploma enough on its own?
Usually not. Your route may require UNEDasiss accreditation, Ministry homologation, PCE results or a combination. Check the profile for your education system before paying for legalisation or sworn translations.
When should I start my application?
Start about a year before your course when possible. Documents, homologation, UNEDasiss, PCE registration, university deadlines and consulate appointments run on different calendars.
Do I need a student visa?
EU citizens do not need a student visa, but they must check residence registration rules. Other students usually apply for a long-stay study authorisation through the Spanish consulate, with the documents that office requests.
Can I get a scholarship as an international student?
There is no automatic scholarship. The Ministry, your university, regional bodies and mobility programmes publish separate calls with their own nationality, residence, income, study and deadline rules. We can explore available options for you once you've already been accepted and enrolled into a Spanish university
When does the academic year start?
The academic year usually runs from September to June or July. Confirm the application, enrolment and orientation dates with your chosen university.
